End of Year

I really should post more. The obvious excuse would be "Oh I've had so much going on" but it seems that's all I've been saying these days. Like I need to compensate for the fact that I'm a Graphic designer/Illustrator by letting everyone know just how busy I am. So now that's said I can stop that.

I'm rambling. I guess this is what happens when you don't exercise those blogging muscles. I guess I should just list the things I want to say numerically before I go misyanning all over this blog post.

1. There has been improvement! I would have come back here with tail between my legs if there wasn't any improvement in my art but Hallelujah! I've actually gotten much better. I will be posting some of my more recent work at the end of this post. The difference between where I'm coming from to where I am now is something I'm proud of but at the same time there is still so much ahead of me that I need to learn.

2. I got paid for my art for the first time ever! (Well for the first time since I was 12 anyway)... I did the character and background design for an explainer video that is soon to be released. Once I can hunt down the link I'll post it up here so you can take a look.

3. Fingers crossed, I've also landed my first job as a designer. I'll be handling game design and animation for a mobile game company. It's still kind of up in the air at the moment but I should know for sure by tomorrow. It's a position that would really take me to my limits but I'm up for the challenge. What's the worst that could happen?

4. Looking at the last blog post I realized that for me my occasional trips to the fortress of solitude for a few always end up with me grasping some knowledge or skill that takes my design to the next level. I've spent the entire christmaas holidays doing the same thing. No outings, very few friends coming over and just me and my wacom tablet, laptop and tutorials and again it's paid off. Working on some new stuff that I'll be sure to put up soon.

Lastly, I've decided to make an effort to update the blog at least twice a week. It's just one item in a long list of New Year's resolutions. That's it from me, till next time.

Babz.

This is fan art from the popular animated series Southpark . Eric Cartman is just my favorite character and i couldnt help doing a piece on him. All the work was done in adobe illustrator following the guidelines of a pencil and paper sketch.
